    Sr. SQL Server DBA: Contract-To-Hire

    We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator  to manage and maintain databases with respect to design, access methods, security and integrity.

    Major Responsibilities (in order of importance):

    1) Examines and manages database requirements of the end user and the applications developer.  Ensures compliance with documented goals for enterprise data architecture. 

    2) Makes recommendations for solutions requiring the knowledge of the physical structure and the functional capabilities of the database engine. 

    3) Responsible for maintenance of the data dictionaries, the adherance to standards, and successful systems integration through good database design.

    4) Maintains up-to-date knowledge of products, developments, and trends in database management software.

    5) Monitors access times, performs validation checks and uses other methods to monitor and analyze database performance, according to self established and documented metrics.

    6) Manages device allocations and file sizes, builds indexes, reorganizes tables, and purges data in accordance with established business purge criteria. 

    7) Manages additional resources, primarily consultants that may assist with implementation and support.

    8) Works with the applications group for creating and refreshing of test data environments, while adhering to acceptable security standards, and assists the principal data architect as needed. 

    9) Manages data migration: production to test, production to production on different hardware.  Also manages database engine upgrades and application suite changes. 

    10) Manages  procedures for database and application security including procedures by which access is authorized, enabled, changed, and withdrawn.   Also includes responsibility for ensuring SOX compliance and ensuring disaster recovery data backups are strictly followed.  

    Minimum of  3 years database experience preferably in Microsoft SQL Server.  Knowledge of Oracle database and/or the JD Edwards application is a plus.  Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent scripting skills are also essential.  Understanding good teamwork is an absolute requirement.
